Successful communication is vital to the growth of any organisation. However, as we’re all confined to our homes and places of sanctuary, communication break-down is bound to occur between you and your team. Never fear, online software such as Slack and Microsoft Teams allow seamless communication between departments, individual team members, and the whole company. While Microsoft Teams combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration, Slack is essentially a chat room for your whole company, designed to replace emails as the primary method of communication and sharing information. Its workspaces allow one to organize communications by channels for group discussions and allows for private messages to share information, files, and more all in one place. Different chat channels in your company allow teams to discuss work, brainstorm ideas, and stay connected throughout the workday. To reiterate, the use of different channels of communication increases productivity so get down, go digital. Don’t let coronavirus or any other pandemic stop you from achieving your targets.
As we seek to stay safe by social distancing, video conferencing plays a bigger role in communicating with clients, partners and other stakeholders. Unlike with emails, video conferencing allows you to see each other’s expressions and react to one another in real-time. This can replicate the benefits of face-to-face meetings you would have had in your office or boardroom. Video conferencing software typically includes screen-sharing capabilities of up to 20 people minimum, recording, and live-streaming, which can add an extra layer of communication and understanding to your meetings. While working remotely, keeping your team on track and maintaining everyone’s regular workflows requires top-notch project management tools. If you’re not already using platforms such as Basecamp, Trello, Asana, Airtable, or Bitrix24, now is the time to set up. These platforms allow you to establish various projects, assign tasks, review updates and project progress in one glance. So whether you’re building a website, writing a blog or revising your company strategy, each member of your team will be able to track your progress and jump into your comments to help you get the job done.
Once you have used the digital tools above to build your product/service you need to find new channels to sell it. After the lockdown has been lifted, life will not go back to “normal” immediately and brick & mortar organisations are going to have to adjust to the new normal very quickly. Going forward, customers will purchase more products online until a vaccine for coronavirus has been determined. Experts warn that it could take up to one year and a half for a successful vaccine to be discovered.
